General information
Approximately 21% of the population is French-speaking (inclusive definition of French-speaking in Ontario) and more than 38,900 people have knowledge of French.
Many services are available in French, enabling French-speaking newcomers to quickly integrate into the community.
London has been designated a French-speaking city since 1994 and was the 23rde area designated for the provision of provincial services in French. While federal services must be provided in both official languages wherever they are available, this is not always the case for provincial services.
With this designation, London residents can receive services in French at Service Ontario and Service Canada offices. For example, you can obtain a driver's license or birth certificate in French. If you need information about a government program, you can also request that it be provided to you in French.
Francophone community consultation forum
The Table Franco-Info is a forum that brings together organizations and institutions offering services in French in London and the surrounding counties every two months. Its mission is to strengthen community cohesion, foster partnerships, and support the development of a vibrant and engaged Francophone community.
